After his first year with the Golden Bears, David was the USATF Junior National 1500 meter champion in 2004, and two months later was a finalist in the IAAF World Junior Championships. As an upperclassman, David won the Don Bowden Mile, running 3:58.62 to break Don Bowden's school record. He was also the runner-up in both the Pac-10 1500 and the indoor NCAA distance medley relay. Since graduation, he has won 4 National Championships, one indoors at 3000m and three straight Road Mile Championships. He has also anchored the second fastest 4x1500m relay in American history.
