One of the greatest high school Cross Country runners of all-time, Dathan Ritzenhein won the Footlocker National Championships an impressive two years in a row. While attending the University of Colorado, Ritzenhein won the NCAA Championship in the 2003 and was the 5k runner up to Robert Cheseret.

In 2004, Ritz turned pro and went on to win the USA 12k Cross Country Championship and finished 62nd at the World Championships. Ritz set the American 5k Record in Zurich at 12:56 soon after finishing 6th in the 10k at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin where he set a PR of 27:22. He went on to finish third in the World Half Marathon Championships running another PR of 1:00:00. He has also run personal bests of 8:11.74 in the two mile and 2:10:00 for the full marathon (London Marathon).
